About the Fairy Tail Series

Fairy Tail was written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, the author of the popular “Rave” manga series. The Fairy Tail Manga series premiered in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine in its August 23rd 2006 issue and is still ongoing to this day.
Fairy Tail has been licensed for an English launguage release in North America by Del Rey, the first volume of the series was released on March 25th 2008. As of July 7th 2009 Del Rey has released 7 volumes in English.
The Fairy Tail Manga series follows the story of a magic guild that goes by the name of “Fairy Tail” while the name of the guild does sound gay, don’t let it fool you, this guild is one badass group of highly skilled mages that specialize in many arrays of magic such as fire, ice and electricity to say the least.
The series starts out with the adventures of a young sorceress named Lucy Heartfilia who travels in search of the magical Fairy Tail guild. Along the way, Lucy meets Natsu Dragneel, a teenage boy looking for a dragon named Igneel. Shortly after their meeting, Lucy is abducted by Bora of Prominence, who was posing as Salamander of Fairy Tail, to be sold as a slave. Natsu rescues her and reveals that he is the real Salamander and has the skills of a Dragon Slayer. He offers her membership into the guild, which she accepts, and they become a team performing various missions for the Fairy Tail guild.
